“Hey you must be the new student! Welcome to Liberty! My name is Anna Green and i’m going to be your tour guide for the day!”
“Hey i’m Kelly Lambert. And thank you! i’m happy to see the school”
Anna led Kelly through the main doors of Liberty High School, and began showing her all the rooms and hallways that she would need to know. She began introducing her to people and explaining the Liberty culture as well. They turned a corner, coming up on the hallway where all the jocks spent their time. “Who are those people over there?” said Kelly.
“Those would be our jocks. Some of them are assholes, but there’s a few nice ones thrown into the mix.” She began pointing each one of them out. “That tall one is Zach Dempsey. football, basketball and baseball star. Actually nice, and cares about school. Then we have Bryce Walker. Biggest dick that walks the halls of Liberty. Tries to get into every girls pants. Good at football and baseball though, i won’t lie. That’s Jeff Atkins. Best baseball player Liberty has seen in years. Super nice. That one there is Justin Foley. Basketball star. He can be nice, but he’s also fucked more girls out of anyone in that bunch. Then there’s Marcus Cooley. Doesn’t play any sports, but he’s our student body president. Sometimes he’s nice, other times, not so much. Then last but not least, we have Montgomery de la Cruz. Classic hothead. Will start a fight with a brick wall if he’s bored. Baseball star, right behind Jeff. Football too.
“What about those 2 girls with them? Who are they?” asks Kelly.
“That would be Jessica Davis and Y/N Y/L/N. Jessica is Justin’s girlfriend. Super sweet. Cheerleader. Y/N is our soccer star. Named best in the state at last years championship. She’s known all the boys since elementary school. One of the most popular girls in school. But she’s the sweetest thing.”
The day went on, and Kelly learned more and more about Liberty as she went. Her last class was Bio, and when she walked in, the only available seat was by the one and only Y/N. Sitting next to her was Zach Dempsey.
“Hey! You can come sit here if you want,” said Y/N, snapping Kelly out of her trance.
“Oh hey thanks. I’m Kelly.”
“Very nice to meet you. I’m Y/N, and this is Zach.”
Kelly greeted Zach and just then the teacher started class. As the class went on, she noticed how Zach would answer would answer a lot of the questions, and when it came down to the classwork, he helped Y/N whenever she had a question.
The next day, she walked into her first period English class, and sat down in the back, right behind Jeff and Marcus. The teacher started class, and started talking about an essay that was going to be due at the end of the week.
“Dude there’s no way i’m gonna have time to finish this essay by Friday. Do you think Y/N would do it for me?” asked Marcus.
“You know Y/N. There’s no way she would write it for you. She’d help you sure, but you’re gonna do the work,” said Jeff. Marcus sighed and pulled out his phone, probably texting Y/N.
“Hey Jeff we still on for free period?”
Kelly looked over and saw Clay Jensen, someone she had met yesterday, ask Jeff.
“Definitely man. i might be a few minutes late though, Y/N asked me to help her get something out of her car.”
As she heard the conversations, Kelly couldn’t help but wonder what was so special about Y/N.

During her free period, she headed down to the bleachers by the football field. She started working on her essay, but when she looked up, she couldn’t help but notice Jeff Atkins and Y/N walking, Jeff carrying a bag of soccer balls over his shoulder.
“Thanks for helping me with these Jeff. Coach had me go pick them up yesterday. Says it’s part of my ‘new-found captain duties’.” They both laughed as Jeff set them down in front of the bleachers.
“Anything for you kiddo. But i gotta go meet Clay in the library,” said Jeff. “Hey how is that going by the way? You know I would’ve helped you in a heart beat if it hadn’t been for soccer starting.”
“I know you would have. But it’s good so far. He’s really smart. He’s helping me with my essay on Friday and to study for the next test.”
“That’s great. Marcus asked me to help him with his essay this morning so I gotta find time for that on top of my own. But anyway we both have to go. See you at lunch.” And with that she jumped up and kissed his cheek, before running to the middle of the field where the rest of her team was.
‘Are they dating?’ The question floated around Kelly’s head as she watched the encounter, but forgetting about it, she began to work on her essay. As she began packing up her things to head to her 5th period Algebra class, she watched the last few minutes of the girls soccer practice, where they were scrimmaging. She watched Y/N weave in between players and eventually pass the ball, only to receive it again and shoot and score from the 18 yard box. The team ended the practice there, and all headed back into the locker room. “Hey Kelly!” yelled Y/N once she spotted the new girl as she was walking to change. Kelly waved as she started walking to her class. She slid into her seat with seconds to spare, the bell ringing just as she got settled. She pulled out her things and waiting for the teacher to start class, and a few minutes later, a few girls from the soccer team strolled in.
“Nice of you to finally join us ladies. I still don’t think you should be excused from being late because of practices. Take a seat,” said the teacher. As the girls sat down, Bryce Walker turned to the side and said something along the lines of, “You looked really hot and sweaty out there, but i’d enjoy it much more if you were hit and sweaty under me,” to one of the players, and Y/N’s head whipped around so fast you would’ve thought she would’ve gotten whiplash.
“Listen Walker. We may be acquaintances, but that doesn’t mean i’m going to let you treat my players like they’re sex toys. Leave them alone before i shove my foot so far up your ass you’ll be shitting out my shoe.” And with that, Y/N turned around as if nothing had happened, and the infamous Bryce Walker started sliding down in his seat grumbling. Kelly shook her head and fought back a smile, wondering again bout the mysteries of Y/N Y/L/N.
Lunch rolled around, and Kelly walked in, not quite sure where to sit. She looked around at the different tables, seeing the typical cliques separated. Right in the middle of the cafeteria, she saw the jocks, with Jessica and Y/N sitting with them. Y/N was right between Zach and Montgomery, laughing at something one of them had said. A few tables over, she spotted Clay, Anna, and a few others sitting, and she figured that that was her best bet.
“Hey can i sit here?” she asked as she walked up to the table, everyone offering her a place to sit.
“So how do you like Liberty so far?” asked Anna. “I like it so far. Kind of confusing to find other places though,” answered Kelly.
“You aren’t lying,” said Hannah, “It took me 2 weeks before i even remotely knew my way around.”
“Hey tell me a little about Y/N. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about her or to her and i get more and more confused every time.”
“Well,” said Anna,” She’s known all of those boys since elementary school. She’s like a mom to them. Quite literally in Justin’s case. Don’t ask how we know, but Justin has a really bad home life, and she lets him crash at her house whenever he can’t stay with Bryce or Jessica. When Zach’s dad died last summer, she was with him for a week, just being there for him. She was there holding him at the funeral while he was crying.” “Not to mention she’s the only one that can put Bryce in his place when he’s being an asshole,” said Clay. “I remember she punched him in the face in third grade because he pulled her off the swings when he wanted to play with her.”
“Oh my god,” Kelly said laughing.
“She helps all of them keep their grades up too. She was helping Jeff in English everyday until soccer started. then i started tutoring him. She knows how much baseball means to him, and she sacrificed her afternoons to help him get his grades up so he could play.”
“I saw her kiss him on the cheek earlier today. Are they dating?” she asked.
“No Jeff has a girlfriend. But they’ve known each other since they were in pre-school, and they’re as close as brother and sister. And Marcus- she helps him with a lot of the advertising for student council.”
“What about her and Montgomery?”
“That is where it gets a little complicated,” said Anna. “whereas the other guys are like brothers to her, her and Monty have a really weird relationship. They’re super flirty, and their together a lot. They’ve hooked up once or twice at parties. They just don’t really have a label.”
They all looked over and noticed that Monty had his arm around her shoulders, and how every time he stole some of her food, she would swat his hand away.
“Oh yea. We definitely have to get them together,” Kelly said.
